In examining the body language of all of Bill Cosby’s accusers, there were no signals of deception for any of Bill Cosby’s accusers which were noted. Based on my observations they were all telling the truth. What stuck me was that many of them still suffered the emotional pain and humiliation after all of these decades. The reason for this is because they kept it in for so long. Today there are more open avenues to share what happened to you and to receive psychological help available. There are support groups and people are more open to your pain. Today, there are people and organizations and support groups that can help you heal.
But back in the day women kept quiet. When defenders of Cosby give the argument “Why did they wait so long to come forward?” the answer is simple. Years ago you never spoke about such things. If they happened to you you would never dare share it for fear of being an outcast, belittled, not believed, or blamed. In fact it was a “blame the victim mentality” back then. Women who were raped were often questioned as to what they were wearing to entice a man to want to rape them and blamed for it. There was a lot of ignorance and unawareness back then.
During the NBC Special, you could hear so many women of that were saying that they wondered what they did to cause this. That speaks to what I just said. The victim was not only blamed back then, but the victims even blamed themselves.
Power of Cosby
So many of these women Cosby preyed upon were in show business. So he knew they wouldn’t speak up if they wanted a career. He was powerful and offered up interviews and auditions for them. They believed him. They ended up in his hotel room or at his home because they trusted him based on his persona. They were all young- from 17 to 20 something young girls who were not like the young women of today with so much more awareness. So many of these young women were naive as they assumed Cosby was like the wholesome character he portrayed on television and in the media.
They also knew that one needed a mentor or a champion to make it in show business just as it is today. You need someone who believes in you. They were grateful that such a powerful man saw something in them that was so special that he took the time to want to audition them . So they went to that meeting or audition no matter where that audition took place.
All Bill Cosby had to do was give them a part or introduce them to an agent or manager and they would be on their way to instant stardom. He had that much power back then.
In fact he had so much power and so much money back then that there is no doubt in my mind many men and women who worked with him may have known what he was up to and turned a blind eye because he was their cash cow. In fact, I remember a talent agent of his showing me a 10 percent commission check for $800,000 from Bill Cosby for just one small gig that he did. That means Cosby received 8 million dollars for just one of the things he was doing professionally.
I also have no doubt that his wife Camille turned a blind eye. In the interview he had with her when he was asked the question about the rape allegations made against him, you could see how intimiated Camille was by her body language. She reminded me of an abused wife. Maybe she turned a blind eye out of fear from her abusive spouse. In fact Carla Farrigno, one of the victims and Lou Farrigno’s wife said that she believed Camille knew about what was going on.
In addition, many of these women were raped and assaulted in the mid to late 60’s and 70’s and early 80’s where there was a generation of “free love” and open sexuality where anything went. So that was yet another reason why they didn’t speak up. They feared they would never be believed or that they wanted it, or that the sex was consensual .
When I heard the same story after story, it became apparent that Cosby is nothing more than a a sexual predator who needs to be behind bars. He found pretty young women who were mostly white or light skinned black and essentially humiliated them. Back in the day when Cosby was doing his raping and assaulting there were racial issues in society. Unlike today, there was a divide between blacks and whites.
Things were not as open and equal as they are today and interracial dating and marriages were not common or accepted as they are today. In fact up until 1967 blacks and whites could not get married. It was taboo back then. Many his victims were raped before and shortly after the discrimination laws were in place. So one cannot neglect to consider the racial component of his crimes.
Perhaps it was his getting back at the racial taboo which was in place for so many decades- decades in which he spent his puberty, sexual development, and his formative years. Perhaps psychologically it was his passive aggressive attempt to get back at women in general and for any discrimination he may have experienced against him in his past.
For Years Cosby Leaked Out His Drugging Women Through His Spanish Fly Comedy Routine
When Cosby did his standup and made his albums he always included a comedy bit about Spanish Fly which was some sort of drug which knocked out women. In essence, he was leaking out the truth in terms of what he did to women when he was not doing standup.
Above is the link to his comedy routine about Spanish Fly. While everyone laughed back inthe day, the routine is no laughing matter today. In fact it gives us a lot of insight into his thinking. I hope that one of the lawyers questions him about this during his deposition.
Now Healing Can Finally Happen
One of the women said she felt a sisterhood with the other woman who were there. That is because they all went through the same humiliating experience. For the first time in their lives could openly talk about this dark secret that plagued and humiliated them. They now had their own therapy group where everyone understood their deep pain. Now that they let out their secret that plagued them all their lives, they can heal.
But their real healing will take place when Cosby is held accountable for his actions. Hopefully he will face criminal charges as he should not be allowed to get away with this. In a day where songs refer to women as hos and bitches, perhaps seeing Cosby behind bars for his own demonstration of treating women as hos and bitches and throwing them away like garbage after he soiled them, can be an example that women are not these things and need to be treated with dignity and respect.
